Initially I intended for my magazine to be a rock alternative magazine, featuring bands varying from several genres and sub genres. Such as Hard-rock to a mixed genre of Drum and bass and alternative rock. This helped narrow down my first initial demo-graphic of a 17 – 25 year old male audience which were of a BC1C2 socio-graphic.But after much deliberation and thought on how the magazine would look and the overall readership, I decided to change from a large mainstream market to a small Niche market which is a lot more direct and easier to cater for. As a mainstream market as a variety its difficult to cater for all possibilities, but with the niche market I chose it will be easier to design and create a magazine that will be attractive and entertaining. The genre that I decided to change my magazine to was a J-rock/J-pop magazine, the audience demo-graphic is similar if not the same to my original idea, but it’s much more enclosed as to bands, TV shows e.c.t that would be featured unlike the wide variety that would be featured in a western Alterative Rock magazine. The ideas for my J-Rock/J-Pop magazine are that it will feature a new western band that will have broken in on the scene, as this rarely happens within the J-Rock/Pop scene it will be a big feature. Also along with a lot of the music the TV shows also strongly reflect the audience and music style that I aiming to reach. With the demographic of males between the ages of 17 and 25, of BC1C2 socio-graphic profiles, anime is the main feature that will help attract and entertain my target demo-graphic. Anime along with the fashion that is associated with the J-Rock/Pop genre will help create a unique image that will specifically target the Niche demo-graphic that I am designing for.The features within my magazine will mainly feature obscure bands, and few popular mainstream bands. This will help draw in my demographic as they will like to hear about new bands and the reviews from critics that they have received. Along with news on songs from bands that have been used in anime’s etc. I also want to include various posters from both bands and animes that would appeal to my designated target demographic of 17 - 25 year old males. This would help add extra attarction and appeal to the magazine overall. The colour scheme of my magazine would be of dark colours, mainly red, blacks e.c.t, that would fit the style and genres of both the music and TV shows that I had planned to place into the magazine, this is so that the colours help compliment the overall style that the magazine is aiming for.
